Fire Extinguishers

A requirement for MBM cruises and general safety is an automatic engine fire extinguisher system, however I cannot find anyone anywhere that supplies these, can anyone please point me to one suitable to fit to a Princess 32 (1981) with single volvo penta turbo diesel ?

The halon ones no longer sold, cos tony blair reckons they wreck the ozone layer. he went on a jet to Montreal to sort it out, wrecking theozone layer on the way more tha quite a lot of halon .

But the powder ones make a right mess, and would need lots of cleaning and fixing up, with aerosols perhaps which would wreck the ozone layer again.

Co2 things don't make such a mess, but mebbe not auto? incidentally, if you do have a fire in boat or car, switch off blowers into neutral and whack up the throttles to suck the fire out. This works!
 
Thanks for that, so Im basically stuck, cant go cruising without a system, but cant get a system.........If powder ones make a mess, im sure its better than the boat sinking, but Id hate the idea of an accidental discharge.

There are other automatic fire suppression system - Argonite and FM200 for instance. I'm not sure these are marine certified for small boat usage and are cost effective. It is problem we will all have to face soon(ish) so there are likely to be options available - don't give up so easily!

Aqau Marine Tel no: 023 8069 4949 still have stock of the Halon automatic fire extinguishers 1.3kg.
I need to get 2 replacements for my twin Volvo penta's. Spoke to them this week to find a replacement and was surprised they had some in stock. Approx £61.00.
