It's time to get the engineroom extinguisher replaced whilst the boat is ashore. Before I start removing it, can anyone give me some pointers??

As you can see from the pictures, it has a manual release wire along with 2 electrical wire contacts. I don't want to go setting anything off so just wonder whats the best way to remove it.

The boats batteries have been removed and shore power won't be connected when I remove the extinguisher if that helps??

Thanks.

Gosh, can you hear them ticking?! ... If all the electrics are disconnected, as you say, I would assume they are not armed ... unless there is a back up battery!

I'd refer to the manufacturers instructions. Do you have them?

By the way, what make are they and would you recommend them? I need to source some extinguishers for my Settimo Velo.

The two electrical cables are for a preshure switch. The switch will either just control a warning light or on some boats will shut down engines, gen and fans when preshure drops.

Unplugging it will not cause any problem but if engines don't start a link wire will need to be fitted.

The manual cable just needs to be removed carefully so that the lever doesn't get pulled.

Be ready to get out if for some reason it dose go off.

With something as important as this I would check with a professional.

I have had very good service from Dennis King - after reading an article about a boat fire I have all the fire systems checked every year - he is very reasonable.
