Does anyone know if its OK to leave fire cement for a while before firing it. I am installing a solid fuel stove and would like to do all the cement stuff
but then will need to leave it for a while before lighting the stove to cure the cement.
thanks

yes, fine to leave it for a while as it will dry out of its own accord. But when you start the fire, do so gradually.

Oh, and wear gloves while applying the gunk as it is very alkaline and abrasive. If you use bare hands, you will have lovely smooth paws that take days before they stop being too tender. :)

Fire cement is rubbish especially on a boat with all the movement. Use special high temp. silicon which is obtainable at any good chandlers.
