Hello,

I wonder I might ask for a bit of advice please? I'm looking at financing a newish boat and wondered if anyone had any advice on marine finance?

I have a 30% deposit (£20000) and would really like to find a mortgage that allows a PCP style payment (with a ballon). I note Lombard offer something like this, (not sure what yet as they do not return emails)... But I wondered if there are any better lenders, types of finance I could look at?

I'm looking at a 2009 Sealine SC29 or something very similar. But would consider a Regal Express 28? Seems like a lot of boat for £75k new? I would be interested in knowing if anyone has had experience with the Brand.

Very many thanks,

Tom

SGB in lymington offer a very good fixed interest balloon payment option.
They are the in house Beneteau group finance provider but will fund anyone if the boat is under 10 years old (power).
They are French though and the French underwriters don't always understand the way things are done in the uk.

Hi Tom,

I have just financed my new to me Manhattan 50 through CGI Finance based in Lymington 01590 610689, they are good to deal with and have many products to suit your needs. I went for a mortgage with a balloon payment, I was buying abroad so choose a euro mortgage with the repayments in euro's which gives me the ability to exchange sterling when favorable over the length of the loan.

I used Lombard on my old Prestige 36, there OK to deal with though don't offer many options.

I don't know anything about the boats your looking at but I do know the loan companies seem to favor more main stream brands when your pushing the amount you want to borrow. PM me if you wish to talk further in depth with figures.
