Jessie and I have had our first outings on the Crouch. Up to Fambridge and back to Burnham on Wednesday, lovely outing and quite enough adventure for a first time. Far too much adventure yesterday en route to the Roach with bigger blustery gusts than expected and complete inability to put any reefs in the main without Jessie taking off on a course of her own. So got as far as the Roach junction before deciding to return to Burnham. Loads of excitement getting the main down again but eventually accomplished. No wrecks and nobody drownded. Fact plenty to laugh at afterwards. And finally a no brainer "where is it?" which shows why messing about in boats is the only thing half worth doing.

See you about when you are all back from Oostende, Calais, etc.

What's a reef? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Good on you, and what a cracking river to sail around in. Nice pic, too.
