So! ….. After numerous set backs with weather, covid etc etc I finally got boat home.

journey was an adventure. Battery died on way there. Fortunately round the corner from Halfords so had to call the cavalry (my pal Roy) in to rescue me abs go get one (never buy a Tanya battery! Cheap pish… Died after 3 months)… Then my mate had entered Balloch in England into sat nav. Which took me onto the M74,.. So, left Girvan at 11:30, reached balloch at 3.30!

Upon arrival the seller and mates had got her on the trailer (every cloud and all that…)

Towing her back was easy as pie, even in my 2007 1.8 civic. Only issue was I picked up a slow puncture in front tyre. Had to keep on blowing that up.

Anyways, finally home, trying to upload some some before/after jet wash photos. Keep getting error the file is too large for server? ? just photos taken on iPhone. Anyone any ideas how to upload? Cheers…

Now the work begins.

Here’s some… Tried compressing them.

Congratulations. Reminds me of when I got my first boat, much excitement. 2 months work and £1k spend and we had a boat that gave us a few years of fun. Don't aim for perfection - get it on the water!

Defo! It’ll be getting another blast from jet wash the day after the masts off. Inside blasted. Then water vaccum. It’ll be going in the marina as soon as cleaned up. Will do the inside at my leisure through summer whilst using for fishing with engine around the bay, the hull get painted when it comes out in October and into boat yard. Basically I’ll be using it whilst working away on it. ??

Well done. I'm looking forward to pics of your progress towards a lovely little yacht.

I think you were unlucky with your Tayna battery, though. I've had them on my boat and they did fine. I'd be far more leery of a Halfrauds one!

Yeah be a good wee project for sure!

was their budget battery. Power cell brand! Been a total nightmare last few weeks.

I like Hankook batteries preferably from Battery Megastore
I’ve never had bother with a battery afore. It’s prolly just been bad luck but the customer service guy was telling me that batteries will drain if not used for a few days as if I’m stupid. Basically a dunger battery. It’s getting sent back for a replacement but I’m still down £80 as had to buy Halfords on to get car running again to go pick up boat

And an added bonus, I’m fairly sure you’ve got a 20’ Vivacity there, not an 18’ Alacrity. The Alacrity only had one berth forward, the Vivacity 2.

Hey. It’s defo an alacrity, they done one called “the weekender” it was a 3 berth with a small kitchen area. The attatched photo is the interior of one of these. There’s a blog where a guy ripped this out and created a double bed. Second photo

Mines is the alacrity 19 foot, the mark 1 was 18 and wooden I believe. The mark 2 and “the weekender” were 19 and fibreglass

(never buy a Tanya battery! Cheap pish… Died after 3 months)

I am surprised. I've bought various batteries for boats, motorbike and car over the years, and always had quick service and received sound batteries.

Had you charged the battery since receiving it, or used it for anything?

In any case, have fun with your new boat!

Aye. It’s been charged loads. Charging system in car is running fine too. I’ve had bikes and cars and necer had an issue before wae a 3 month old battery, it’s just a crap battery… Anyways. I’m here to talk about ma boat no my dunger battery ?

So that’s it in water. The engine mounting bracket isn’t low enough, need to lower that for my wee engine. Just using a wee seagull 40 plus the now. It’s just a bit high in water (it is a long shaft) and I’ve lowered the engine mount stopper as far as it will go so that’s gonae need moved or replaced/upgraded. Window seals need replaced as well before the interiors started.
