When I bought the boat in November filled up the flexible water tank, and it appeared to be Ok. Refilled it today, and wondered why it was taking so long to fill - the bilges got a lot of it.
My Evasion has a deep keel and so it is in the front part of the keel, as I can see the split in the side it probably still has about 35 gallons of water below the split, which is in a seam - obviously less when the yacht is on its beam ends.
Anyone know of a good maker of flexible water tanks in the South Hants area, as I suspect that it will have to be tailor made, and looks like a real b******d to get the flow and return pipes out

Bite the bullet and have some solid ones custom made to fit the space. In ny experience flexible ones are more trouble than they're worth. If you prefer plastic, TEK-Tanks get lots of good mentions here. Personally I prefer stainless and had very awkward shapes made to template by an outfit in Warsash. Negotiated a very reasonable price.

Unfortunately to fit solid or grp tanks would require the complete removal of the grp floor and the bulheads which stand on top.
I cannot see any alternative to the flexible tank which has lasted for 26 years.
I have repaired the split in the seam, and clamped it, so at least i have about 30 gallons of fresh water rather than 44, and the boat can heel without half of it ending in the bilges.

The fact remains however that I would still like to hear from anyone who has bought flexibles from Vetus or Plastimo, or alternatively had tailormade flexibles

I've got a Plastimo flexible tank which I bought last year to replace the old one which had split. It's OK, but I can't get excited about the things. It never fully empties (because of the layout of the pipes and the shape of the locker) which effectively reduces capacity. I would prefer a proper tank, but I discovered the old tank had split 2 days before launch date!

I bought it from Compass, price was fair and they will probably have details on their website.

If your old tank lasted 26 years it was either very well made or you were very lucky. My old tank lasted about 10 years.

It depends on access but have you thought of making a fibreglass tank in-situ?

I've had a custom made flexible waste tank made last year by a mob near Totton - but for the life of me can't think of the name. They were excellent in helping me sort out what was needed, delivered on time and the price was OK.
Can't say how practically effective it was as once fitted I refused to let anyone use it - but by the way it was fabricated I could not imagine it leaking.
I'll try and dig out the invoice and add the name to this thread.
Cheers

The reverse osmosis on my previous boat had lead the owner to have custonmmade flexi tanks fitted. Company was called Air Cushion, but name is now changed.. I did have a chat with them some years ago...believe they may now be called TUF TANKS Try 02380 870077 or
02380 871188. Believe a company called DURATANK also make custom flexi tanks.
On my current boat I have a triangular plastimo tank in the forepeak...and had to replace it. Remember they cost half as much to buy just the inner, but you need to order it especially as most chandlers dont seem to stock them.
