Underneath the stern tube I have a void formed by the top area of the skeg. This, of course, fills with grotty greasy water which can't be too good for the internal structure. Whilst I have the prop shaft out I have a mind to fill this in. It is probably 6 to 8" deep and the opening is about a couple of square inches, so getting to it internally will not be possible, apart from draining it with a meat baster, which I have done. I have thought of pouring a gallon polyeurethane glue down, which should react with any moisture, foam up and fill the thing and I can then glass over the entrance.
Should I pour the stuff in one shot, or will it overheat?
Anyone ever tried this?
Is it a daft idea? Anyone got any better?
The idea of mixing thick two part foams or getting GRP down the ole does not appeal. Remember I am working at full stretch, in the quarter berth, at he back of the engine, through a letter box.
