I am about to remove some brackets from the stern of my boat. What is the best way to fill in the holes left? The bolts being removed are M8 size I think.

Any advice much appreciated (and a beer to the best one - must be collected from Gosport!)

Hi Cap
Presuming your boat is grp... ?
Use a countersink bit with gentle pressure to radius or angle the gelcoat only.. just a tad... then clean the insides of the holes with a small round file.
tape over the back of the holes, apply a small amount of plastic padding or similar, leave just below the surface.. when dry, apply gel coat, might need a couple of coats.. when dry, lightly sand with 400 then 800 or 1000 wet n dry, used wet..
Polish and go.. then if you are really good, remove the tape lol.

Hope that helps

Joe.

Plastic Padding do 'Gel Coat Repair' which is just white Plastic Padding as far as I can see. Polishes up nicely and has worked well for me. Plenty of water when rubbing down with the Wet&Dry does help matters.
