I intend to buy "Fiberglass Boat Repair Manual", as I have many diverse repairs to do on my 22 year-old (and showing it!) new boat, and it seems to be a comprehensive, practical book. I see at the online bookshops that there is an edition from 1988, and a more recent one from 1998. The latter is currently not available on amazon.co.uk, and as it has the same cover as the earlier edition I wonder if it is just a reprint. Does anyone know if the 1998 edition is substantially different or more up-to-date? Which one should/could I buy?

Many thanks for your kind advice.

I don't know for certain, but since the publishers (international marine/McGraw-Hill) website only lists one edition then I'd guess the 1998 version is a reprint.

I have it and found it a very good, practical book and have seen it referenced lots of times in other composites books. Although written in 1988, I'd guess that if you're using it for a 22 year old boat that makes it even more relevant. I too have a 22 year old new boat!

Have fun
