I'm getting this error message and there's no mention of it in the manual. Comes on after initiation and a few sweeps. Net result is no radar - it was all a bit disconcerting as I came back from St Vaast yestaerday, rounding Bemebridge ledge in 20m visibility, blowing my horn as it were.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks - Nick

This sounds a bit like an error message "no heading pulse" that I have had with my 1623, (see posts of a few days ago ). In my case, the antenna had stopped rotating, due to binding of the belt drive. Either listen to, or better still, look inside, your radome.

I had the same with my 1623.

The problem was again the drive belt too slack. I loosened the screws holding the motor and moved the motor away as much as the tollerance in the mounting holes allowed and has been fine ever since. (always on since Bermuda )

The motor is direct gear drive on the 1721, so the gears may be out of adjustment. Also the magnet for the heading line may have dropped off or the reed switch has failed, worst case the PCB has died.
Visual check of the rotation and then check of the magnet and switch with a meter are quite straightforward.
Further than that then you rpbably need a furuno service dealer.
