Hi we are hoping to get to Corfu mid July and looking at returning to UK for August (a spot of grandchild sitting required!). Can anyone advise:

a) an estimated cost of ferry from Corfu to Brindisi in July?

b) other than easyjet which airlines fly from Corfu to southern England?

c) other than ryanair which airlines fly from Brindisi to southern England?

Looking forward to your replies with thanks alig

Wish you the best of luck, esp with Greek ferry prices /timetables. Tried to do this recently with all perms/combs Belgium-Corfu. Non of the Ryanair flights corresponded with ferry times from Southern Italy, and my conclusion was that cheapest route was overland to Venice, and ferry from there

Don't even think of going via Brindisi as foot passengers. The ferries are old, slow and not cheap. Then the airport is some way from the ferry terminal. Assume Easyjet will be doing daily flight to Gatwick. Excellent service and if you are not fussy on day and book well in advance you should be able to get less than £100 return. Alternatively there are umpteen charter flights to Gatwick every week, although my experience is that they are much more expensive than Easyjet unless you get a last minute deal and fly at very unsociable times.

Thanks for the replies.

Nimbusgb, I am not considering flying to Brindisi from UK and then on to Corfu, rather its the other way round, go from Corfu to Brindisi. The point is we are planning and are researching our options, hope that's a good enough reason to ask the questions. :D

Thanks for the link I've found similar information myself unfortunately it seems that the schedule and prices are not yet set, so I was trying to find out if anyone had any ideas of the cost (they might have done the trip or seen the advertisements) even last year's fares would be a helpful indication.

kind regards Alig

Venice-Corfu?

Have you considerred the above option?
Although we've not flown to Venice, we did drive there and get the Minoan ferry to Corfu.

We were double impressed with the Ferry, especially the (interior) room and on our adventures, we have no probs in recomending it.

Obviously not as cheep or as quick as flying, but we had a great journey through France, turn left into Switzerland, and accross Northern Italy to Venice.

My missus loved it!!

Regards,

Cariadco, thanks for your idea about Venice indeed we hadn't thought about Venice as an option. I have few questions, do you remember how much the ferry fare was? I assume you took your car to Corfu, is that correct? How long did the ferry trip take?

Look forward to your reply, kind regards Alig

Hi Alig99
as previously mentioned there are ferries from Venice. The link below is for a lady called Jenny who runs a travel agency in Preveza and can get heavily discounted ferry rates. Drop her an e-mail.
There are also ferries to and from Ancona but I'm not sure if they stop at Corfu. Jenny would be able to tell you.
Good luck with the grand child sitting !!!!!!!

It is a different picture by car as you have many more options, of which Venice is one, but there are also ferries from Bari and Ancona. There is not a lot of difference in price or time (from UK) as the cheaper shorter ferry from Brindisi is offset by the extra 400km of fuel and overnight stay.

We did it (return) via Brindisi in 2007 with a non stop (but 2 overnight stays) down and a 6 day leisurely back staying at mostly modest hotels and the cost was well over £1000 - but this was low season (April/May). Increase in fuel etc, high season and lower value of £ would more than double that in July/August this year.

We have been going to Corfu 2 or 3 times a year for the last 10 years and have tried all the options and Easyjet is both cheaper and better than anything else - indeed cheaper than our first trip in 1999!

The ferry took about 22 hours. I booked on the Internet off their website. I can't remember the price but not too bad I thought. Maybe you can do better in Corfu?
We had an interior room, so no windows and booked the cabin all to ourselves. (there is an option to share.....!!)
I'm told by friends that the Minoan is far far better than the anek ones. And yes, we took the car.
We eat with the Driver's in their dining area, as apposed to the Ala Carte restaraunt, and we had loads and loads piled on our plates!!
The Bar wasn't a bargain, but not too bad.
All in all, one of the best ferry trips I've encounterred!! and the weather was bad!! and I get sick as a dog, on ferries!! but not on this trip.
Ironic considering I sail!!!
