ferro cement good and bad points?

We have had the pleasure of refitting ferro cement yachts and from our perspective we think ferro is an excellent material for a hull provided the wee ship is built well. It also represents great value for money and with todays house prices they also make really good first boats or sailing home. We like ferro!

Deffinatley, I made a very stupid error in buying totally unseen!.... and was VERY lucky!

Although, I picked a well known builder and sensible hull shape - which I geuss probably helped the equation somewhat!

But yes, I've been aboard DROMENGRO during a Mistrale - Abeit onland... It was perfectly still down below! - Very little noise penetrates the hull- if any..... *(which is quite a virtue for my neighbours.... Led Zep being played loud at ungodly hours probably isnt everyones cup of tea!!!)

There's a lot of mis-representation about repairing Ferro-cement. It is indeed possible, and yes, it does last... There's some repairs which were carried out 20 years ago on mine - and are still perfect now.

But again, its the same as buying a wooden, glass or plastic boat - buy a pear.... and it will rot!.. simple!!
