I am thinking of trying the roll neck fender sock kit as an alternative to the pre-made covers. I would welcome your experiences, good and bad.

Many thanks

I can't remember the brand, but they used cable ties to secure top and bottom and worked ok. As I recall, not that much cheaper than buying ready made, but ready made a bit easier.

Look good for a while.
As time goes on socks absorb moisture and grit , which then abrades gelcoat. Socks start to look really manky.
Will her indoors want them in the washing machine
Replace socks and repeat.
As way of tarting up scruffy fenders fine but why not just clean the fenders. ?

I sold many hundreds of packs of the roll neck socks and didn't have a single complaint. When I used them, I used a cable tie at the top to secure them. The material has quite a tight weave so is less prone to holding grit than towelling socks.

I had noticed that a few people use padded fender blankets/cushions in conjunction with fenders. I'm considering do this because as has been mentioned, grit gets into the weave of the fender socks.

Mine are still fine , or were in Nov after two seasons. They do slip down if wind pushes the boat onto the pontoon and boat rocks a bit. Easy to pull your socks up.
I assume the cable ties are threaded through the top cut edge? Problem then as my made to measure previous ones did was the movement at the pontoon level wore a hole in the fabric
