Need 6 new fender socks - size 31 x 90 ( well that is stamped on the top of the fender).

They are £54 each!

http://www.boatfendercovers.co.uk/anchor-marine-fender-covers-1-p.asp

Now call me mean, but that does not seem value for money (especially as in my experience they all last about a year!).

To make matter awkward I want Beige, which is less ubiquitous that blue.

Any suggestions ( other then belt up and get your credit card out!).

Just buy some fleece and knock them up yourself, you could even buy a sewing machine as well and save money on your £54 each jobbies.

Compass marine in Dartmouth make the best fender socks in the world, they charge the same rate if you need them bespoke or if you have standard size, I have heard all the arguements for and against and would never be without.

Prices VERY reasonable, quality will last 20 years +

No connection!

Edited bit;

Just seen you want beige, they don't list beige..(not surprisingly), but give them a call, they are a small company and I bet will be able to get what you want.

Not sure fenders would last 20 years, let alone fender socks! :)

The prices mentioned are simply ridiculous. We had some in our first boat several years ago and we bought them at a boat jumble. Can't remeber the price but it was nothing like those mentioned by the OP. Classic example of rip off prices in the marine world IMHO :)

I use those stretchy fender sleeves you can buy from any boat show or on line. They come in the form of a fabric tube and you cut to length and either fold over or hem the ends, and use a cable tie to tighten up to the fender ring. Www.fender-socks.co.uk ( they do brown) £36.50 enough for 6 fenders so £6 each.

I buy mine from m2m here http://www.m2mfenders.eu/plain-boat-fender-covers-30-c.asp. Talk to the main man, Dudley Pattison, for advice

All I would say is buy good quality fender socks for the Med because they get hammered rolling between tightly packed boats. Are they necessary? Not really but fenders very quickly get grimy and dirty and fender socks just smarten them up a bit

++1. Dudley is a good guy. I always buy socks and fenders from him.

Spoke to Dudley. There is some price anomaly on Plastimo covers ( they are half price of Anchor until September then they go up) and the boat name added to each for £5.

So thanks for suggesting Dudley :-)
