Whats the best thing you ever had out of a skip?

I have just made a folding cockpit table from an old door panel out of a harbourside skip. The crew seem to not mind its humble origins.

I cant see why she shouldnt qualify, did they name her "Skipper". makes a change from the smaller 4 legged occupants i had to fight off in a Belizean Skip once.

skipper - no, they would have had to call her 'dumpster' over that side of the atlantic.

i think you were brave to go totting in a 3rd world skip.

If you have a chain-tester nearby you will find lots of chain that is out of test in their skip. Best to ask first.

Friend of mine picked up a Yamaha Malta outboard from a Florida skip. Brought it back on the aircraft and 5 years on still running well.

At sea somewhere.
A ship a friend was on was alongside in a third world port. As per ususal, a skip was ordered and put alongside on the jetty for gash. Within minutes, a local street family moved in (much to the amusement of the matelots on board). As gash was put in one end, the family sifted it for what they could recycle/eat/find useful and threw the unwanted rubbish out of the other end of the skip onto the dockside...

Re: Pay and Display

Yes, I was surprised to see so little boats in the channel on saturday. This morning was a bit dull but on the whole it was a good weekend.

4 BIG Avon Inflatable fenders. Two with lovely soft blue covers. All had "Leaks" written on them but some of that liquid stuff you put in through the valve cured them no problem. Still have 2 in use after 3 years. Skip in Georgetown, Bermuda.

In Spain - A good as new pushchair for our 8 month old (but don't tell him). Also, two lovely brass table lamps dumped from a motoryacht. A few months later the owners came on board and recognised them! A touch embarrassing.
