Sunday, 4 August is the date for celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of RAF Felixstowe, with ceremonies, a parade and an air display over the sea abeam the Town Hall. I was wondering if there will be the opportunity to anchor outside the display area as at Clacton (22/23 August). The latest information about Felixstowe is:
Flying Schedule (as of Tuesday 9 July - maybe subject to change)
1500 Catalina Flying Boat G-PBYA
1512 Trig Aerobatic Team - Pitts Special S-1D
1526 RAF Sea King
1543 Cessna 305C Bird Dog G-PDOG and Auster
1555 Yak52 and ME108
1612 Spitfire

The overall schedule is:
■ 11am - Church service at St John’s Church, Orwell Road.
■ 12.30pm – Parade from the Spa Pavilion to the steps of Felixstowe Town Hall.
■ 3pm – Air Display, weather permitting, over the sea, opposite the Town Hall.
A spokeswoman for the town council said: “Everyone is invited to watch the parade from Undercliff Road West or the promenade or Wolsey Gardens.”
Sponsors are currently being sought to help with the cost of the air display.
The town council has agreed to underwrite the event to £6,000.
It is hoped the Science Museum will loan the Schneider Trophy – a worldwide high-speed race challenge which was won by crews from RAF Felixstowe three times – for the weekend so it can be put on public display.
A Naval Aviation Exhibition is also being held at the Felixstowe Museum from March 31 to October 27 as part of the anniversary celebrations.

I can't answer the question about anchoring, but thanks for the news about the air display. I anchored off Eastbourne last year for "Airbourne" and they were right over the yacht,in weather similar to today,it was amazing. Can you normally anchor there? If so,should be ok I would have thought!

I assume there will be a formal NtM in due course but I'm told that the arrangements will be:

WINGS ON WAVES
MARITIME EXCLUSION ZONE – BRIEFING NOTES
Point Marker for Centre of Display will be a Black buoy positioned at:
 Lat 51° 57' 46", Long 001° 21' 04"
 0.08Nm/150m from the shoreline
Due to the type of aircraft taking part within this air display an exclusion zone of 500m will be placed around this Centre of Display Point Marker, commencing from the Shoreline. This allows for an emergency crash zone from each possible flight path into the display area.
The Exclusion Zone shown to the left will be enforced from 14:30 – 16:30 on Sunday 4th August 2013.
The exclusion zone will be marked with yellow and orange marker buoys.
The Area will be patrolled by 4No. 6m Rigid Inflatable Boats from the local sailing club liaising directly with the event organisers and HM Coastguard.
Note. Plan is indicative and for visual purposes only
Patrol boats to operate on VHF M1/37a
Call sign to lead patrol boat will be Marine Marshall 1.
