A really good Laser sailor and mentally mature and a responsible drinker aged around 38 years. Would you have him aboard a cruising yacht. ( He can cook and is a trained IT engineer).

You never know with dinghy sailors. I recall one very experienced and capable dinghy sailor who went to pieces as soon as the wind picked up and the waves increased. Despite years of sailing he had never actually been in a significant sea.

You could find the same with an experienced cruising sailor. There is no doubt that good dinghy sailors know "how to sail", whereas the same doesnt have to apply to a good cruiser sailor.

Depends on how long ....
but if he can cook - thats a bonus
He can fix any electrical thing that goes wrong
Being a really good laser sailor he'll probably sort your sail trim out as well....

Oh - and if by really good laser sailor you mean he's done well in racing then he's probably a good lookout too - sounds like you could get an easy trip!! ;)

He could well have been , but they look a lot less threatening from a Wayfarer than they do from the centre cockpit of a big boat. Odd that but it's true.

Anyway, he's got to be trainable as a foredeck man where big feet are a great help as are big hands and the sort of mental sensitivity (or lack of it) that often comes with jobs like IT!!! ;-)
