Feeling smug and self satisfied, managed to buy 1974 editions of "Motor Cruisers (under £4.5k)" and also "Motor Cruisers (over £4.5k)" for only £2 each. These are very very rare as they were cheapo paperbacks that fell apart, I doubt if theres more than a ½ dozen left in the country. Nope! no offers I ain't gonna sell them no how.

Do you mean you got one thousand nine hundred and seventy four copies of this publication, or all those published in year 1974? No matter which, they have no 'collectable' value. Believe me - even the chip shop wouldn't be interested. You would have been better off spending your poppy on one (cheap) issue of the Dandy!

Pride (or SMUGNESS or SELF-SATISFACTION)comes before a fall but put it to the test Big Fella. Since you got them for next to nothing, auction them on this forum, proceeds to RNLI or trips for disabled kids or whatever. I'll make sure I chip in even tho' I don't reckon the're worth anything much.

Very clever, I put them up for auction and lose them.... on yer bike. Eat your heart out they ain't for sale, last time I saw a copy auctioned was a few years ago at the Henley auction and it went for 50 sovs. If you want a copy that bad try finding one yourself, these stay in my library along with every edition of Bristows I now own.

How many copies have you got Byron?

I've just been talking to one of my clients that collects such things and he's very keen. I'm sure we can do better than the £50 per issue that they sold for at Henley.

Let me know if you will consider parting with them.

Sorry Andy, they are an absolute mine of information on older boats and there's no way I will part with them. Seeing how flimsy they are I doubt if there's more than one or two others still around. As a matter of interest these must have been hidden away in a boat locker for the past 28 years because they have a whiffy boaty smell about them.
