I wanted to take my boat to Salcombe (with gorlifriend and pooch). Now I'm back here's the low down:

I didn't get to Salcombe and the boat is still in the cellar where I left it.

Great eh! We crossed the channel to Dover with the dog in the back after a near nightmare with the SeaFrance dog passport forgotten stamp dilemma. Got hin through after a mad dash to a vets in Calais and headed for Devon. We arrived first in Kingsbridge where I nearly fell into the estuary from staring at all the little boats everywhere.
Still we had the bikes so we headed for Salcombe up and down those wonderful Devon mountain goat tracks you call roads (unsuitable for HGV's the sign warned). Well we got to within a mile of Salcombe and collapsed in a stream which fed the estuary. A most beautiful place. I walked along the stream bad down to meet the now rising tide. Large bass were chasing their dinner up the stream with the rising current.
Got my sandal stuck in thick balck mud and managed to pull it out in two pieces. I lurched back to girlfriend with a grin and a muddy dog on tow. Devon is wonderful.
We found Hope, which was also stupidly pretty, having a beach for pooches aswell as one without. We got on the pooch beach where Moses began his screw the other dogs game. He loved it. Sorry to all the other dog owners, especially the bull terrier. Loads of boats all over the place in Hope. I must return afloat!

We travelled far and wide around North Cornwall, climbed on Bosigran and Sennen Cove. Jumped in the unbelievably clear sea off a rock at Sennen. A fisherman near us was catching pollack using a feather rig. It was wonderful. Now I'm back home, getting packed to go down to my boat tonight to prepare for the next adventure. This time I take the boat!

Hey, really glad you enjoyed Devon. We've lived here for almost 35 years and still love it to bits. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Be great to see you back and yes, you MUST bring your boat - then you'll see some of the best bits!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
