Feed Me Better ...

auditing my food expenditure for the year to date, i conclude that i have fed 24 people at an average cost of £2.56 per head per meal. this is obviously excessive or the grub is far too pukka. removing several trawler pies reduces the expenditure to an average of £1.56 (smoked haddock is terribly expensive) but fish is good for the brain so can't do without that.

however, i refuse to do without my breakfast pigs-in-blankets which would further reduce expenditure by another 10% but i could ration the greedy gits to only two p's-in-b each which would save even more ...

to ensure good health of my crews, i also chucked out my frying pan last december and always have fresh fruit ... the only junk food is kit-kat bars which only i know where they are ...

is this litany of good taste worthy of Mr Blair's attention and can you feed your crew at a cost of £0.50 each? i crewed on a boat (many years ago) where the skipper thought cans of baked beans which included pork sausages was a treat and that would have cost less than 50p per head ....

Pigs-in-blankets

Pardon my ignorance. These pigs-in-blankets sound good but what are they? If I had to guess I'd say bacon sandwiches but I hate to think I might be missing out on a traditional seafaring gourmet experience.

Pigs in blankets ..

What's the best method of cooking pigs in blankets? Is a good quality baking tray essential?

Re: Pigs-in-blankets

A search of the internet suggests that one trad recipe is sausages wrapped in cabbage. I'm not crewing on his boat if that's what it is !

Re: Rumaging in Cherbourg

If twas you I spotted rumaging in the bins at Cherbourg over Easter I'm not surprised your costs are so low. It was annoying you had got there before me and I had to take the crew for a meal ashore instead.
