Feckless is on her way to Conwy. She should be resting for a month and then appearing on a mooring.
John , the guy who bought her from me, has just sold her.
We slipped her on Wednesday. A very nice guy came and collected her today from my house and set off on the trip at about 1.00pm

Bye-bye Feckless.

Strangely, although I haven't actually owned her for a couple of years, this sale has felt more like breaking a connection with the lake than when I actually sold her myself.

I'm pretty sure he got £1700 for her. That included everything. The trailer (the tyres still have pimples on them), very good 4hp 4 stroke Mariner, and the tender in the back of the pic. Even a portaloo thingy and some cans of beer.

I think it was a fair price. He may want to put a new(er) headsail on but only for cosmetic purposes. A coat of antifoul and chuck her in the water. No work to do.

There used to be a guy with a Sunspot in Conway, I don't ever remember seeing it with an engine, but it was out sailing every weekend in the season. I don't think it ever left the harbour, but it was sailed extensively up & down the estuary - no mean feat with tides running at up to 6kts at 1/2 tide, but he only ever seemed to be out for a hour or 2 either side of HW to minimise the risks.

I always thought it was lovely way to sail, basic & simple & minimum cost - as a local resident he would get a significant reduction in the mooring costs. I shall keep an eye open for her, altho I do not visit Conwy by boat much these days, they are a bit quick to grab your mooring fees & I can park the car for nowt if I need anything from there.

Thanks for the info. I certainly think she is worth £1700. A lovely little boat.

Lakey

I am confused...
You have sold Feckless..
You are now posting videos about climbing up lumps of rock and grass in a non floating motor boat... sorry car...

Yet you still retain a desire to post on a boating forum...

Does this mean that you are still a closet sailor? or that you get a better class of forumite on a boating forum than a motoring one?

You are not the only one. Not only was the buyer delighted when he collected it (bought sight-unseen) but my friend who was selling it has been inundated with enquiries since. He got that asking price so no quibbles there.

For someone who doesn't get emotionally involved with boats, I can't help thinking you have a special bond with Feckless, hope she continues to prosper.

Some people don't seem to have noticed your boats since inc the Solo, since when did having a car based sport mean one must stop sailing...

Hey. It really is less strenuous. I just sit there and drive. The hardest bit of a day at an event is clipping the tie down strap to a bracket under the car.

OK. I do get Ian's weight dumped on me now and then.
