This has probably been done before... But this time there is a motive

Please nominate your favourate watering hole and why..
Perhaps it is possible to show the new landlords at the Ferryboat what works and why ....so that they could emulate it rather than follow the usual TV and lager approach?

Sir Loin of Beef in Southsea... beer choice, ambience, and the nicest pub I know...

Yachty pubs?? Folly of course, been twice and never disappointed... fine ales, good food, lovely spot.... in Emsworth I rate the Coal Exchange for the same reasons...good locals as well - always someone to have a chat with....

...none of them east coast of course..

Sorry to hear the FBI has taken a turn for the worse - I've not been in there for about 3 years.

If your specific about pubs when you say watering hole, there are two good examples on the Deben: the Maybush at Waldringfield and the Ramsholt Arms.

When I'm cruising, I like to eat and drink with fellow sailors in a yacht club. Two East Anglian favourites are the Haven Ports Yacht Club on the lightship at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and the Crouch Yacht Club on the river wall in Burnham. While the CYC does have a large screen telly, its use is confined to "ïnteresting moments" from the days sailing on the evenings of regattas and rugby internationals in the winter. Never seen it switched on for footy.
