What are peoples favourite nautical sayings?

Things like

"if the wind comes before the rain you will soon make sail again but if rain comes before the wind then your sheets and halyards mend"

or

"Long forcast long last, short forcast soon past"

There must be lots of gems out there!

I can remember a particular Navigator on an Ikara Leander Frigate to whom it seems most appropriate!
