Had a blast across the Solent Thursday trim set at -2 gto on to plane looked down at trim indicators to find starboard engine indicator reading 7 BEACH, hells bells i thought backed off power played with switch could hear buzzing noises but indicator didnt move.Due to bathing platform and a force 5 northerly could see outdrives to determine actual angle boat boat didnt handle any different.Any ideas is the problem gauge end or outdrive end has anybody experienceed anything similar?.
while im at it an electrical problem, all on one mast i have masthead light, stern light ,horn and searchlight (radar arch mounted) masthead and sternlight dont work neither does horn, searchlight remote goes up and down but not left and right ,when light is on (this works ) and you operate up and down toggle light dims. i havnt done obvious yet like check bulbs but it seems strange that 3 out of 4 dont work all on same mast.

Hello, do you mean trim tab or outdrive leg position ? I had a similar experience that cost an arm and a leg ! i.e. my leg position indicator (volvo penta) one side packed up and yes they were the old square type - can only buy nice new round ones now at lots of dosh.. So if its the gauge let me know as I have a spare.. (also pums etc) saves two new round ones and fixing plates..

Before you spend too much money on having the entire electronic control circuitry checked and/or replaced, have someone check the ground (0-volt return lines). Corrosion on the contacts in the return lines back to the battery could give you a major problem with all your on-board electrics!

It's just a thought, may not be the cause at all, but if it is, it's a hell of a lot cheaper to correct than the power trim controls!

Best of luck!
