I have a Lowrence 3500 depth sounder which has a mind of it's own as to working !! Works fine for a brief time, then just flashes or alarm sounds with no screen display. Have had the dead unit replaced, but no change. I think the problem might be related to a bad ground connection - but I'm no electrician !!. I can make it stop working by switching on other rocker switches, but I can't seem to isolate the problem so as that I can fix it. Anyone got any ideas ??

If you have an inline fuse for the existing power supply, check there is no corrosion on the connections.
If that doesnt help I would then try rigging up a separate temporary power supply to see if the issues are still there, shouldnt be too hard. Check all connections to transducer too.

Check your earth connections, if you are turning on other equipment when iti s on and it is going off check that the voltage to the unit is not dropping below its minimum requirements to operate which is around 9 volts so running a temporary line will prove if this is an issue
