There was a lot of discussion about this when the MAIB report came out. There shouldn't be now, because the trial is under way. The MAIB report is no longer available, probably for the same reason.

A terrible incident.One could have understood if the chap who fitted the system was just plain ignorant of the dangers involved with carbon monoxide in confined spaces but to be in the trade and still carry out the installation !

many of us fitted CO monitors after this incident & they are now compulsory in rented properties

A terrible story and a lesson to all.
Thankfully these incidents are rare, however given the number of "all electric" boats sold to first timers for use in inland waters where marina shorepower facilities are rare, such bodges are going to happen. Would be interesting to know how many dodgey installations BSS inspectors see, if they are not removed before they arrive.
