Fastest 12m sailing boat in the UK?

The thread on "Sunsail boats on the move" got me looking at pleasure craft movements on AIS.

If you want to see a 12m sailing boat doing 50+ knots look at the track for a yacht called Weyve on AIS. The voyage was made this morning and made all the more incredible by not being near water!

No doubt someone much cleverer than me will be able to post the track.

Lets hope it was an essential journey!

Yes, definitely on road transport but its an interesting journey for 12m sailing boat. Afloat at the beginning then lifted out of the water, conveyed to point NE extremity of track, stops for 15 mins then travels to the west, stops for a brief time then travels back to where it came.

I can understand road transport to a 'fixed' location but not such a quick round trip, especially for a sailboat. Perhaps there were brief jobs to be done on it at two different locations?

Anyhow being in bedroom isolation I'll now go back to twitching those curtains!

Odd. What else could it be? And why would the boat be transported with the electronics active? Maybe the AIS identity has been installed into something battery powered and it was in the owner/engineer's pocket...!

Yes and looking at the AIS trace, the transponder was at anchor or on a mooring for some time before then coming out or off the water then doing the journey.

The transponder now shows it to be back at Titmarsh marina on its berth. They've done well to take a 12m sailing boat out of the water for a brief run out in the country and then get it relaunched and back on its berth all in an afternoon!

Guess it has to be a portable device.
