Hoping to take boat up the N. E. coast in the middle of May and possibly leave her there for a couple of weeks then make the return trip to the Humber. Anyone know of cheap secure moorings in this area where I can leave a 30ft fin keeler unattended.???

Speak to Coquet Y.C at Amble or Royal Northumberland Y.C at Blyth, there may be a possibility of berths at Berwick or Eyemouth, harbourmasters and Club numbers are in MacMillans, Seahouses is to busy with fishing and divers boats

From memory, and I haven't sailed there for 15 years, Berwick and Eyemouth both dry out which would be a real problem for a fin keeler. Braid Marina at Amble probably doesn't meet the criterion of cheap, but might be the only option. Both of the yacht clubs which GrahamC mentioned have deep water moorings at Lindisfarne, but they were strictly "Members Only" for, at most, a couple of nights.

Sunderland, Newcastle, Amble and Blythe all have marina's, none of them exactly cheap and as for leaving her at Lindisfarne? .........DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

Ive been here for nearly 2 years now and I still havent worked out how they can charge very nearly the same as the Solent ......and in some cases far more, for a hell of a lot less!

ie Seaham about £900 a year for an open swinging mooring that is certain to get robbed!...long live Nomura Bank...NOT!

Eyemouth may be a possibility, there have been a lot of changes recently. Probably worth a call to the harbourmaster.

Berwick may let you stay in the dock, never tried it myself, SWMBO ran us aground going in about 5 years ago and she refuses point blank to go back.

Don't even think about Lindisfarne!

Amble marina is probably best choice though not cheap.

Dunno if RNYC at Blyth would be keen on leaving boat for a period - worth a call
Next South is Royal Quays at Nth Shields, but again not cheap.

PS
If you want a really good look at the Farne Islands its worth having a ride on the trip boats out of Seahouses. They get closer than ever I dare.
