I have just picked up a 4 in 1 fuel/oil/temp/volt guage which I had ordered from chandlers a few wks ago, and when ordering it the assistant asked the supplier on the phone for the european resistance and was assured all the guages are european rst.
The guage is sold under the name Uflex, but it is actually a Faria instrument, as Faria is on the casing moulding.
Now my worry is that I read on the ASAP site that all the Faria 4in1 units are american resistance only.
Is there any way that I can tell for sure what resistance it really is? as I only have the word of a supplier who wanted a sale, dont know who supplier is.
The new Tek tank (diesel) I fitted last june has a euro resist sender as asked for when ordered, which I suppose I will have to change at more expense if the guage turns out to be american, also I will have to renew all the other sender units, but would like to be sure about rest first, any ideas?
Thanks, C_W.

Faria gauges are poor quality. My fuel, temp, and volt meters all fog up. It is such a problem that Faria issues a "manufacturer's" statement claiming that this is normal and ok for their gauges.

Go with VDO.

Just bought the correct American senders for it /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif . Yes they are American resistance.

American Temp. Senders will read: 450 Ohms (Engine Cold)
or 29.6 Ohms (Engine Hot )
European Temp. Senders will read: 281 Ohms (Cold ) and 22 Ohms (Hot )

If in doubt:
Get a fixed resistor i.e. 280 Ohm and see what it reads. Hook it up and check the reading. Or use your newly bought tank sender, hook it up, slide the float up and down and check whether it reads correctly.
