Sorry to raise this point again but I couldn't find the previous thread. I tried to polish the boat last week using Mer but it was hopeless. I seem to recall folk saying they had best results using Farecla products and an electric polisher. Can someone please remind me what the products are? I can lay my hands on a polisher.
Thanks!

I have used Farecla Gelcoat restorer/wax, and it works very well in cleaning and prepping, but then needs a coat of polish. I used Mer with good results. Both done by hand, but a lot of effort involved, so am looking at a Boat Sheen orbital polisher to ease the strain.

I use these quite often normally I did it the Farecla G compound is good, G7 and G3
depends the condition of the boat if the shine is really dark try to use G1 the most rough, if it is still ok use G3 or lower
as for Mer I have been using it since ages
it is a very good protective polich but is not good to remove the dirt, it will leave also a few hand marks around but after washing your boat with boating soap wax a few times its shine really comes out good

Before polishing, you have to get the boat clean first.

I use the infamous. Mucky Farters International Boat Removing Epixior. As sold on these forums some years ago.

If I ever get round to polishing, the international stuff works for me.

I have just used the Farecla 600 compound and the uv wax on my boat.
It gives a brilliant finish with a buffer.
Draper tools do a buffer machine with an adjustable speed.

[/ QUOTE ] What are you calling the "600 compound"? Cannot see it on the website

I wash the boat down first with Skippers Choice (excellent product) and then G6 compound, then G10 finishing compound and lastly the polish Teflon base PTEF type (can't remember the name).

I decided after trying other polishers to spend money on a light weight polisher RUPES LH 16EN www.rupestools.co.uk not cheap!

There's loads of information on our web site.
Comparison of orbital and rotary polishing machines, info on preparation, various wax and glaze options.
