G3 I think though you should look at the new range from Farecla which is much superior for GRP/gelcoat boats, finer smoother finish.

G6 is described as a "Rapid Grade" paste SEE HERE
G3 is described as "regular grade" paste SEE HERE
Both are however formulated for vehicle refinishing and also come in liquid form. They may not be entirely suitable for GRP gelcoat

If you prefer the conventional pastes that have to be applied using a moist (wet!) foam compounding mop over the modern self lubricating liquids that can be applied with a lambswool polishing mop , such as Farecla's "gelcoat restorer, I suggest you also look at the Star brite range of marine rubbing compounds and wax polishes. g3 is good to cut the gel back where it has oxidised. it works very well, I use it with an electric machine, low revving, then the quick wax by farecla.
I did notice last night that Farecla do a liquid compound that will, they claim, remove the oxidisation and leave a high gloss finish....I spoke of it in a thread last night....

thanks dan i'vr used G3 with sucess for the last few years followed by autoglem. I've just ordered 1kg of G3 from ebay

Really, off Ebay? Do they seel stuff like that? I confess, I have never been on to that site, but I am tempted hearing what people have bought and sold.
I find the Farecla Quick Wax to be really good, and it is easy to buff off. I find the trick with polish is not to put too much on, just a film, and do it when the air is dry, if not it goes smeary.

Just to extend this slightly. I've used G3 a couple of times on my hull. Does anyone have a feel for how many times it's safe to use? Presumably its reducing the thickness of the gel each time. My hull is now 30+ years old and I don't want to start seeing the glass fibres starting to show through.

I tend to do mine every other year when she starts to look tired with oxide with stuff dirt.
