Went Poole - Weymouth & back. One of the best 2 days of the year for us. Stayed dry all day Sunday until we got inside Poole harbour (gusting 40kn!). Only saw three boats out though. Broke a rope clutch though during a carefully-planned gybe which all of a sudden was not!

At home clearing the decks to go away on the boat tomorrow. Our son was crewing on an Etchells off Cowes, they too had and unplanned gybe and had to retire to take one of the crew to hospital.
(Later sent home not too badly damaged.)

Glad to hear the guy was OK.

We were out in Soton water (decided to give W. Solent a miss after putting our nose out!) and heard the Mayday. Lots of folks offering assitance evidently. Sailing was excellent if a little over exciting on the occasional F8 gusts!

100odd boats south of IOW

I was in the RSYC Double handed RTIR - there were a few very good, brave or ***** crews flying their kites very well in 25 to 35 kts and v big waves and a few broken ones too - our beast in the bag stayed in the bag. Lots of fun and fast sailing. A lot less crowded than the other RTIR.
