Fantastic after sales service from Musto.

I had a somewhat venerable pair of MPX trousers from which I had ripped off one of the braces on a winch or the like. Last week I got round to sending them back to Musto, asking them to fit a new pair of braces. The elastic and the pants themselves were tired. I expected an email from Musto quoting me a price etc. What I got from them was a new pair by return.

I can think of no other company that gives such a fantastic after sales service. Yes I know they are a premium product with a premium price but, wow, the price is totally justified .

Top company, top products and English to boot! Effing marvellous

On the other hand I had a new Musto bag that started to fall apart after a few month. Took it back to the shop we bought it from (a Musto shop) and they said they couldn't replace it unless it was first sent back to the factory for "inspection" which would take a few weeks.

Absolutely rubbish customer service. They don't even trust their own employees.

I bought a set of the then new HPX oilies in the mid 1990s and after about a season and a half the GT membrane started delaminating. I sent them back and jacket and trousers were replaced with new, about £500 worth at the time as I recall. I think that's what you are paying for.

I had a similar problem - a couple of the little tags holding the elastic on the top came off and the plastic toggle on the zip detached. I dropped it off at the factory and a few days later a new bag arrived in the post.

So, I'd say give them a chance.

I guess I would if I was near the factory. I was just astounded that one of their shops did not even have the authority to change a faulty product. The thing only cost about ten squid and I only asked for it to be replaced as I had it with me and i was passing their shop which I rarely do.

The one great thing about the consumer society we love in is the fact that we have so much choice. For me to get in the car again, drive over to their shop so they can post it to their factory is too much bother and not worth it to me. They may give others good service, but I for one will now buy from one of the many other suppliers instead. For them, this is a shame as I am going to buy a full set of oilies in September.

I believe that Nigel Musto has changed the former after sales policy :D
