I don’t want to upset the owners of this great forum by naming names, and I’m not one to brag, but I do want to bring to the attention of anyone who knows me on here that my boat is featured in a sailing magazine.

If you scan the magazine rack at your local newsagent and see a used boat test of a Cheverton Caravell it’s yours truly and family!

I must admit I was surprised and flattered to have been asked to take part. I never expected to own a boat that would be deemed interesting to the sailing press. I ended up with a bit more of a restoration / refit job than I was expecting when I bourght Paean but I have to say I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Seeing it in print does bring another dimension to the time / work / money expended.

Right, got that off my chest, now off to thinking of something informative, witty or just downright insightful to write on the other threads 

I know I am a few minutes late - your 15 minutes has just expired - but may I say how honoured my boat is to share a marina with such a famous yacht!!

Thanks guys for your compliments.

Snooks: I shall go down to WH Smiths and take a look lunchtime

I have saved you the journey.

Our boat was on the front cover of Motor Boat and Yachting (Think it was that mag) in 1960something. Am I too late to enter the self-adulation stakes????
Said boat was Benbecula (1987 gaff cutter) and the caption read "Probably the oldest boat still racing". We came in for some serious stick that night in the local from the Falmouth Working Boat boys - there's were considerably older, and BOY, could they race!!
Photo was near the start line of the St.Mawes Regatta/Falmouth week.

If anyone has the copy/photo, or is interested, there's a wee red motor boat in the frame. Said WRB crossed our bows a few minutes after the photo and we added extra ventilation to his cabin - with our BOWSPRIT!!!!. Some people!

Love your boat(s)

Self adulation stakes

In the best traditions of the Chris Evans show, can I enter as my moment of yachting cover fame the time that my old Impala was on the cover of the RHKYC magazine "Ahoy", twenty years after I had left Hong Kong?

I was in the dentist's waiting room reading Devon Life when, blow me, there is a snap of my boat achored at the mouth of the Yealm.

So if you have a copy dated Sept 2009 there I am, on page 85.

So my boat was only IN a magazine and all yours were on the COVER.

And they are all bigger than mine.

Talk about one-up-man-ship

A lot of the cover photos don't correspond to an article inside though (or may have some relevance, eg Snooks on a mooring and a story about moorings, but the story isn't about the boat). I reckon having a whole article about your boat trumps a single more or less anonymous picture, even if it is on the cover.

I've got a photo of YBW on my boat, is that any good?

Pixie has been on the cover of YM 3 times, had a feature about her, and all about her once, but been in articles about cruising Scotland in PBO and YM
