After using the pontoons for convenient place to stick the dinghy whilst getting a pasty or some provisions for years we now we find they are charging everyone even if its for 5 mins!
Just another way of falmouth Harbour Master getting money out off us.......
A real put off for visitors during falmouth week.

Luckily, there are several other places where you can leave a dinghy temporarily, such as the stone steps off the Bosuns Locker, or at the other end of that Car Park (desperately trying to remember its name!) or even further afield at the RCYC.

But I agree with your point, that the charging for every little service is counterproductive - it just stops you going to these places and the losers are the traders who pay these people's wages!

So in the end, the quality of life is worse and everybody is worse off. Whatever happened to common sense and decency?

How much is the charge?
Does it apply if you've paid for a mooring?
It's probably still cheaper than Salcombe.

Well said!

That's why I prefer to go to France in preference to rip-off Britain and spend money in restaurants, shops and chandleries over there.

I think this is one where you could very reasonably just refuse to pay. 'I paid to get here; I'm coming ashore to spend money. What services are you asking me to pay for? Are you offering to hold my boat for me? Thanks, but I prefer to tie a knot. Do you not want me to spend money in your town? I can go elsewhere.' Unless something has changed, the bit of the pontoon used by tenders is useless for anything else: there is no extra service being offered for which a measurable cost could be allocated.

I think this is within a marina area for visitors. I have seen a nunber of vessels which appear to have been dumped there; a handy, all tide ,secure, free place to keep a boat. I guess this is the usual case of a few chancers ruining it for the rest of us.
