August 28 to 31.

How disappointing that the organisers have chosen to clash these two events.

I usually attend and enjoy the Dartmouth Regatta but this year may choose to see the Tall Ships at Falmouth.

Me too. I have been accepted as a Liaison Officer (one of 60) for the event. I am told I will be very busy but find it very rewarding.

I visited yesterday evening...arrived 5pm due to work commitments.

Falmouth is absolutely heaving, I've never seen it so busy!

I saw around a dozen tall ships moored upon the wharves normally occupied by the large cargo ships.

i got to walk round one of the largest ones Polish registered 3 masted sail training vessel at 110m (not including bowsprit)

i was a bit dissappointed not to be allowed on any of the others.

There was entertainment going on all over the town including sea shanty singing and live bands in events square.

Tried to get table in a few restaurants, for dinner, all fully booked. Eventually found a garden table in Hang 10 and ate a passable meal over looking the harbour.

The poor staff appeared shell shocked dealing with the volume of customers with orders backing up in the kitchen at one point the wait for food was nearly 1 hour.

At the ed of the evening there was a fantastic firework display launched from the hillside at flushing.
Loads of smaller craft were milling around the harbour trying to avoid each other to get a good view.

it was a fantastic sight to see so many boats dressed overall and the sound of all the horns being sounded at the end of the display was almost as spectacular as the fireworks.

They are leaving tomorrow for the race to the IOW then on to Greenwich for next weekend.

If you get the time I can recommend it as a thoroughly entertaining day out.

We were there. Sailed out of Mylor late morning, and you couldn't see any bit of the southern horizon for ages - it was solid boats and sails. We sailed alongside prv's old boat Kindred Spirit for a while, and saw foeu in his Heard 28. We followed the procession out beyond Helford and then NE towards the start line, cutting short and heading for home. We really enjoyed it. The only downer were some throttle happy moboists, seemingly intent on causing huge wake to pi$$ people off. Most of them were gentlemen, travelling no faster than the rest of us.
