Not having been SW before we are uncertain about where to moor Selkie in Falmouth during July. We are planning to arrive early in the month from the East Coast and leave the boat there for about 4 weeks for day sailing and a trip to the Scillies. Co-owners will drop down to the West Country by car/train from time to time for week(end) sailing and we will return later in the month/early August. We prefer marinas but would be willing to consider safe swinging moorings with tender storage or a nanny boat service.
Any guidance gratefully received.
Many thanks.

If you plan you use trains Port Pendennis marina is an easy maybe 400 yard walk from Falmouth Town train station. Next nearest is Falmouth Marina - about a mile and a half but if you're carrying bags you'd want a taxi. Mylor is definitely a taxi job - about 5 miles away from Falmouth and no buses that I know of. Penryn station about 3-4 miles away from Mylor.

There is also the harbourmasters pontoons (Falmouth Haven) in the middle of town but I would not want to leave a boat there a month - too many coming and goings of other boats. Also ask the harbourmaster about use of a visitors mooring.

If you do get an offer of a swinging mooring in Falmouth there is a water taxi.

I suggest Falmouth Marina(Premier) is the best bet. Access at all tides, sheltered, good facilities and security, great staff, walking distance to shops for supplies and marine services (electronics, rigging, sail repair) either on site or nearby. Falmouth Yacht Haven gets very congested and becomes unpleasant in an Easterly gale, Pendennis too expensive. Mylor is too remote. You could leave her on a FHC visitor's buoy off the Yacht Haven, using the pontoon there for your dingy but you would have to arrange storage ashore for it, perhaps at the Sailing Centre along the front towards Pendennis. Day sailing from Falmouth Marina is lovely - free anchorage at St Mawes, you only pay if you pick up a buoy and you have all the Fal to explore. Nice places to visit outside - good anchorage off Maenporth with beach café or Helford River across the Bay.

Give Falmouth Harbour Commissioners a ring.
For the last couple of years they have had swinging moorings to rent for the summer months at reasonable rents,
and with the water taxi service its very convenient.
Dont let them put you on a visitors buoy, for any length of time, its extortionate.
