Falmouth for a month, any berthing options please?

So, next leg/hop should see me sail down to Falmouth next week and once there I will be needing somewhere to leave the boat for probably a month, as I won't be needing electricity or any other conveniences then I'd be happy enough with any pontoon berthing which is reasonably secure and safe, boat is 8m x 3m and 1.2m draft (twin keel). Has anybody got any local suggestions? Am currently enjoying being at Torpoint Marina, one of the Huggins offerings in Plymouth, great staff and friendly helpful attitude at a sensible rate, would happily recommend them - and am hoping there might be something similar in Falmouth? Thanks for any ideas...

Try St Mawes Harbourmaster or the Sailing Club. They might help short term. And be glad of a little revenue. Wrong side of the Harbour though.

You could also talk to Truro rive Authority ( I think they are the ones that run it) there is a pontoon just before Malpas and there is a resident yacht owner who is most helpful when it comes to looking after your boat?

& update as others might find this useful too - I have just spoken to Port of Truro people, very helpful, and yes - they have their pontoon off Malpas which will be ideal for me + the resident yacht owner you mentioned turns out to be one of their own boat guys and will happily look out for the other boats on 'his pontoon', perfick!

Have a word with Cathie or George Moore at Freemans Wharf boatyard. It's up at Penryn. They might well have a spot for you with a fair price. The pontoons there dry out but they're all on soft mud, power, water, walk ashore.

Thanks for this, it's a good option... Cathie is out of the office so I'll call back in a while to see what they might be able to do. cheers.
 
Hi Phil. I am one the patrol officers for the Port of Truro and the resident boat owner mentioned in the previous replies. I leave my boat either on the Woodbury/Malpas pontoons or at anchor nearby most days. The Port of Truro are happy for owners to leave boats unattended on any of their pontoons and it is a very good deal compared to local marinas as they have a concession rate which can work out at £12 a day. Patrols check the boats twice a day throughout the week so its a great place to leave your boat. Incidentally my boat is the distinctive Dutch sailing barge 'Drifter'. www.sailingbargedrifter.co.uk
