Hi all ive got a guy who may want to px his 275 against my Princess 410, im told its on the Thames and has a single diesel, but the owner does not know the size of it.

Whats the build quality like, whats the rough value of it, ive researched a few, they have single or twin petrols and twin AD31 diesels, but not a single diesel, ranging from 15k to 30k with twin diesels, anyone outhere had one or got one?

Just looking for a resale value incase I do a deal.

Have been using one that belongs to a good friend for a few years now and an excellent boat, this one has single kad42 and will cruise all day long at 25 knots using about 8gallons an hour, build quality very good, aft cockpit and helm is much better than earlier 27, what year is the one you have been offered and what engine, not worth as much as you would expect for this kind of boat.

I seem to recall that some of these were "river spec", ie very small diesel engine. Will make a big difference to the value if so.

The river spec boats were a single shaft drive and surprisingly they fetch a better price than the equivalent outdrive model of the same year, a lot of these are also ex hire boats, there was also the capriole branded boats which were built for the private market, these were built local to me and I know a few of the ex staff.

Yes ari quite right, I believe he said it was a 50hp diesel.

There was a 275 built with a small volvo diesel on an outdrive that was no use at sea as not powerfull enough, and not great on the river as didnt handle as good as the shaft drive version, if its this one I know a friend of the original owner, will see what i can find out.

Paul,

These seem to sell for £15-£25k dependent upon engine and condition of course. Very good river boat accomodation, plenty on the broads. They do not seem to sell fast but do have a loyal following. Quite a few ended up on Windermere after the ban.

The falcon 22/23 was more popular as has been said, but the 27 was pretty bulletproof. I read somewhere that it was based on the fairline Targa 27 when it stopped production, but cannot find the article to back it up.

Hey Paul,

Falcon 275’s do not range from 15k to 25k (that’s the 27’s)

The earlier Falcon 27 commonly came with twin petrols (Penta AQ205 with Duos) however there are a few diesel versions popping up of late. These were in the same era as the Targa 27's and pretty similar shapes.

Facelift model Falcon 275’s (1994ish) were made with an option of two engine set ups…single 230hp diesel and twin 150hp diesels (Volvo). This model (275) saw the changes to the transom, heads, aft cabin and the engine setup.

The boats that came with small hp engines (56? Nanni’s) and were labelled up as Capriole’s. which are the river cruisers…they actually go for a lot more than the planning 275’s !! There was recently a 275 River Version up for sale (now sold) which had the tag of £59k. That was in Penton Hook, Thames.
These were based on the 'facelift' 275 and not the original 27.)

Resale is difficult for a few reasons...

-They're on the size cusp of 'starter' boats hence these people will never find it whilst they are typing in Fairline, Sealine, Bayliner, etc into their browser.
-Since the company ceased a number of years ago during the influx of the yank boats, there doesn't seem to be much information on them. Seeing as there was only about 30 of the 275 models built (Planning version) this pretty much speaks for itself.

You know our 275 model VERY well so if you ever want to take her out or just nose around her, you are more than welcome. All the reports and the history of these boats are in the book rack if you would also like to look through.

Speaking for the Falcon 23 and the Falcon 275, they are great boats boats and would recommend.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dave a big thankyou for your explanation on this model, the ower came to look at my boat but ive heard nothing since, other than it sounds like my broker got the wrong boat, it must be a 27 at that kind of deal, the buyer did then say he didnt need to sell to buy mine, he id say it had a 50hp diesel so it must be the shaft version hes got. Cheers.
