Hi all
I have took my boat out today for the 1st time and have found that it is listing quite severe to starboard when under way, the trim tabs are not working so could not use to correct the lean.
When moored up it lists slightly to starboard as well but was not to worried but do really need to fix
Any suggestions welcome
Cheers
Ian

Would the trim tabs cause it to lean even when moored?

A lot of boats have a list, depends how you fuel and load them up also!
For some peace of mind my mates "Falcy" also has a list at its berth.

Cheers Rob

im not worried but would have been better if the trim tabs had worked so i could have corrected it. The list while moored is only slight.you can see 2 inch of antifoul on port side and about half an inch on starboard. I Have filled both fuel and water before berthing

Yup,Thats about the same as his!
Dont worry bout it,I once owned a smaller boat that listed at stop but once up and on the plane she was easily righted on the tabs.
Do some testing and find the prob, big rewards when you suss it out yourself.

Cheers

you do need to balance it up by moving weight around whilst at rest. if need to add weight in form of spare bottled water, a couple of 6 packs will soon sort it
also lots of tab will affect handling, eg tight fast turns in to one side, much flater long turns to the other
another idea check that any cavities arent full of rain water

Mine does the same at rest (22SPC). I put it down to more internal moldings on the right, bog, helm seat, fridge etc. Fuel tank goes across the boat between egine bay and underberth, water tank is under underbearth in center. If you have a holding tank they normally end up on the right too.
Find my tabs have very little effect at river speeds, I use them to get on the plane quicker or to allow me to plane slower.

Cheers...................Rich.

My 22spc lists when on the plane,I had to get a new trim tab motor, she still lists to stbd but a little bit of Tab and allis well, I find tabs very useful on my boat, saves the wife shuffleing about!

Have a Sealine 255 (26') and at rest it lists 2" to port trouble is all the seating is to starboard so if everyone sits down it is fine but all movment through the boat is port of centre so at slow speeds it lists badly, levels fine on the plane with a touch of tab but am still moving the batterys, looks bloody awfull at rest and think it will put off pottential purchasers when she goes up for sale.
Trouble with small deep V's is they are so suseptable to weight shift, at slow speeds you just need to lean a bit.
