What is the view of adding a layer of the various products available to a GRP deck?

Do they:-
Save wear and tear on the fabric of the boat,
Make cleaning easier and more effective,
Add value,
Look nice.

Any product recommendations greatly welcomed, cheers.

A laid teak deck does look nice but

personally I think if your boats deck allready has a decent nonslip surface why spend money to add unneccesary weight and possibly give you more maintenance problems in the future?

I agree entirely. The integrity of the deck is the most important issue. Next you have to think about non-skid; is the exisitng surface sufficiently non-skid? If not, consider a paint surface with entrained grit. Treadmaster is durable and gives good grip, but not very attractive, and a pain to clean. Glueing on a teak deck adds weight but looks great and feels good underfoot, but think of all those dead teak trees.
In the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.
