Does anyone know of when MBY did the reports on the above boats? Production around year 1998-2002 thanks
Fairline Targa 48 MK1, Princess V50 MK 1 reports

These days, the launch of a new Fairline is greeted with greater excitement by the boating press than a royal baby is greeted by the Daily Mirror. But it hasn't always been that way for example neither the Targa 30 nor the Targa 34 were comprehensively reviewed at launch. And it's therefore quite possible that the Targa 48 wasn't comprehensively reviewed at launch either. I could of course be wrong!

If you can find out which issue it was in I may be able to send you a scan as I have pretty much all issues of MBY and MBM dating back to 1991

Thanks for your offer. I can’t find exactly what year of the reports but I know that the Fairline T48 was produced from 1997 until 2002. The Princess V50 from 1998 until 2003.

Actually I used to own a 1998 Targa 48 myself back in 2003. Its quite a long time ago and I've owned quite a few boats since so my memory is fading a bit but I may be able to answer some questions you have on the model

Dunno. Maybe he'll have to go rummaging through back copies like me? I really dont understand why YBW binned their copy shop service. Surely that was a source of some handy extra income?

Just general things, like performance with the various engine options, I know the Volvo 74’s are the preferred option, any know issues or general problems

Hi Clive, I've found and scanned both reports. PM me with your email address. FYI anyone else who's interested, the Targa 48 test was in the Oct 1996 issue of MBY and the V50 test in the May 2000 issue of MBY

My back copies of MBM/MBY were banished from the house to my office by the SWMBO long ago together with all my old boat brochures. When I built new company premises 4yrs ago I had 2 large storage cabinets installed in my office just to store them. Sad or what?
