Apologies if somebody else mentioned this but I couldn't see it on the forum.

Sounds like an extra special push for sales (are Sealine not invited then?)....it all seems very last minute

Minimum of 5 boats from each brand apparently.

I might actually manage to be in the country then having missed out on SIBS and Excel (and Genova) (I always seem to be just leaving when they start or just arriving after they finish these days)

Good for them..When the going gets tough........

Why does it have to be seen as some reaction to dire circumstance ?

Princess have new blood at the helm and as a result are starting to get a bit more pro-active. They have always hidden their light a little. I'm not saying they're going to go all "supermarket sweep" but changes are starting to be seen.

Fairline are just across the road, so people generally travel the extra 86 yards and vist the other if travelling a number of miles to see one.

Sunseeker are out on a limb compared to the Hamble / Southampton lot. Given the relatively modest costs that will be involved compared to a full boat show great to see them there.

The other great thing is it will be mainly boaters there. A much higher concentration of "genuine" potential owners. Access should be easier than the big shows where you are battling the great unwashed many of whom would struggle to afford the tender let alone the actual boat they are looking at.

Princess have always thrown an informal gathering of boats around some food and one or two cars over a bank holiday.

I say a very interesting idea and I'm looking forward to it. I suspect there will also be a number of relevant used boats to see so combining late model used and new boats many boxes will be ticked.

Henry :)

Haven't sunseeker got a brokerage office at Swanwick now? Seems like a great idea to me and as Henry says, minimal cost. Interesting to see if there is a formal co operation between them all, wouldn't be surprised.

Yes they have so will be a show all under one roof( well not quite) but same yard. Hope they have the same hospitality princess gave last year.

I agree. For sure, most companies have to try a lot harder these days to sell their wares but its just a relatively low cost addition to their normal marketing strategy and why not, seeing as Sealine seem to have had some success with their roadshow marketing and the Dutch yards do a similar thing. Also this falls in the middle between LIBS and SIBS and therefore fills a hole in the UK exhibition schedule. However, I have to say that if this is a roaring success, you can bet that a few high ups will be asking why they need to spend zillions exhibiting at Excel

I agree Deleted User. Makes sense for them to "play nicely" as henryf put it, and form a low overheads boat show at a nice time of year. All we customers want is a day out, chance to look at some boats and talk to builders/dealers, and a catch up with friends over a beer. We don't need the exhibitors to incur big overheads to provide that. Timingwise this show happens to coincide with finishing of my new boat so there is a plan for it to be exhibited there as one of Fairline's 5 or 6 boats. This is subject to some logistics and the final spacing layout of this boatshow, but that's the plan at least. Anyone who has been following the Sq78 build thread or is generally interested will made very welcome by Fairline and Essex Boatyard (and me!) to come on board. I'll probably be rushing around with a toolbelt and electric screwdriver finishing my mods, so all offers of help from boat fixer types would be gratefully accepted :)

I believe (rumourishly) that as well as support from FairPrinSeek, a few other big names might be there: potentially marina co (Premier I guess - they own Swanwick right?), Garmin, Lombard, and so on. It could prove to be quite a nice "mini boat show" event and I wish the organisers well

You'll need new flooring with the foot traffic from the people that make up the circa 130k visits that the thread has had

Sometimes these things grow from humble beginnings...perhaps it will become world famous as SwIBS...but where will the (also needed at this time) used boat show locate to Southampton?

Oooh, a party:D

I might be there as well, seeing as there will be more boat focussed punters than at Excel...
I think that's the idea Neil. Although visitor numbers will not be like Excel's the idea is that a large % of the footfall will be very boat focussed as you say. With 5-6 boats from each of FairPrinSeek and boats on the hard plus in the water, and Garmin et al there, it should be a proper boat show and well worth going. FairPrinSeek all have sales offices there, as does the Mendez conglomerate in case any buyers need a training package. Fingers crossed for sunshine. Should be a nice day out.

Well - I'm definitely going to have to have a little poke around on Match 2, if I don't go and visit her at the yard before then..!

This show definitely needs a set of horns to open and close each day. And should people hang around in the evenings, I now have some good lighting.. Just gotta figure out who to call.

Well that comment has just cost you a 'long-weekend' charter we were planning with you for the beginning of June.

Combined birthdays and wedding anniversary.

It's not even that we couldn't afford a large power boat, but a yacht plus some horses we run take most of our spare time.

Aren't poorer people allowed to look at boats they can't afford in your world?

Odious little man springs to mind.

That's you by the way.

About 7 years ago, I was at the Princess stand at SIBS, they were a bit snooty and told me as well that I would need to book...I don't like booking so I walked away and never went back. I have been put off the Princess brand for life by that event.

Sunseeker always let everyone walk all over their boats. So with the Princess attitude in mind, I asked one of the sales guys why. His answer to the best of my recollection... "a few years ago a 13 year old boy was looking at a boat of ours at a boat show and afterwards he said to the salesman, "I'll have two please"...and he went on to buy two. Ever since then we have let anyone in."

You just never know who your customers are.

Be a good idea if we can organise some ybw forumite name tags so we can recognise each other @ this event.
Saturday day / evening would be an ideal time for us to all get together for another chin wag on Match II lol.

Lets organise something nearer the time...
