I am planning of purchasing a Fairline Phantom 48 that is based in Phuket. I will use the boat for family trips over extended weekends and during holidays. I am thinking of making the yacht available for chartering when I don't use it. As I am very new and unexperienced with yachting I appreciate any comments, recommendations or advice e.g. about the boat itself, the location, my planned arrangement, etc.

The boat and setting look stunning. Local law is likely to be different from UK, but - in UK - you would need to get the boat coded (correct number of lifebelts; 'beware of the leopard' stickers and so on, all ticked off by an inspector) and get the appropriate insurances before chartering.

Also depends where the boat is registered. If not Thailand, then you may have to comply with the chartering legislation of the country of registration, but you may still be subject to some local Thai rules.
