In follow up to my last post I appreciate that most you would rather post your opinions than tick boxs. I am at present working on an article for MBY on the Fairline Phantom 38 and would welcombe the views of Phantom owners, past and present.

ooh - I have just purchased one after spending the end of last year looking at a number of them. We are just starting our season with our Phantom 38 based in Majorca, and so far so good, it's a great boat,

We started looking at Targa's (34, then 37 then 40), but opted for the Flybridge layout.

PM me if you want any further details.

Well there are Phantom 38's and there are Phantom 38's. Which one are you talking about, the early 90's model or the late 90's/early '00's model? I dont want to be picky but you should be specific

See now, here’s a possible case where a newbie, could have been a lurker, pokes in with a pipsqueak Q and the decents (martynk) reply nicely, and then the local bully’s mate (itsonlymoney) gets in there with his boss (Deleted User), give a sly kick, and in the end the newbie’s headmaster pop’s in because he’s threatened and the newbie has deserted!

The lurkers possibly aren’t as thick skinned as Gludy, perhaps, and are terrified of being shot down ( er, drowned maybe) by the forum mafia and so get the wife or the boss to step in, if they have one – or else they carry on lurking…

Posting styles?

Wow. When i read Deleted User's post i thought it was no big deal, not a big kick. And knowing Deleted User I'm sure it wasn't meant to be rude/aggressive/bullying/whatever.

But your post tells me that others may see it differently, so perhaps the forum regulars need to take note? (That's a "me included" comment, not aimed at Deleted User in particular)

On a completely separate point, I admire your lifestyle m'blue. You're a hemisphere commuter, so you never see winter. I was in Coromandel in February -first time for me. Beautiful place and beautiful boating. Can you post a few pics of NZ boating and stuff?

Re: Posting with style...

So probably a bit sensitive ‘cos I see Deleted User in the forum and he seems a regular bloke but to a thick skinned Kiwi he wouldn’t offend – some newbie’s though I think.

Yep, nice lifestyle there and a bit of a special area. There’s a sand bar to negotiate out of the harbour on the way to nice bays for fishing and diving and, um, just floating around really.

Pic’s a bit family mostly but can try to get some up if I can work it out…

But greg01 works for MBY?

erm, i see yer point, but greg01 is on the MBY staff, isn't he? I reckon they're fair game. Ok, no they aren't, really.

But Deleted User wasn't being "nasty", really. Or maybe he is naturally horrid, along with jfm (and me) and you're the first to notice.

As a newbie, it is terribly easy to read too much into pithy comments as though spoken out loud, at you, in the worst possible manner, i think? I know it isn't meant as badly as it sounds. Honest!

Note to all lurkers and readers: - try reading ybw comments as *nicely* as they could be meant, not as badly as they could be taken?

Oh, and welcome to the new kiwi.

Er, welcome to the forum, MelbenBlue. Normally I'm quite nice to newbies, children and small animals but, as tcm said, Greg01 was clearly a mobo mag hack and therefore entirely fair game for a gentle kicking

Read this thread wanting to get some views on a 38 as we have a view to buying one idc - got a load of bollox to read. Will put it down to a long winter and frustration waiting for nice weather.

How about some replies about peoples experiences with a P38?
