Hey - I'm looking at a Corniche too - is in wonderful condition, but has outdrives as opposed to the "preferred" shafts. Any views?

As a leg man myself, how much cheaper is it to make up for not being prefered shaft option.Up side is,at least 10% cheaper purchase price, faster and loads more storage space.Need to ask when bellows and stuff was last done.Need to factor in 6- 8 hundred + lift out if not done in last two years. If going on sea trial listen for low level whine for hints of any wear due to water ingress.

Re: Fairline Corniche \'Terrapin\'

I guess that I am biased towards shafts as I like the way they handle as well as their "simpicity". I also suspect that the boat trims better with the lumps midships. Snag is engine access for us is dire as we have to move sofa, helmseat etc to do basic engine checks.

Overall the Corniche is a superb boat and suits us well - she feels more like a 37 ft boat for space and seakeeping yet is easy and less expensive to park. Because so much space has been devoted to living there is little storage but again thats a compromise that we can live with.

We saw quite a few grotty ones but it now seems that they are being bought and improved which must be a good thing.

Let me know if I can help with specifics as they seem to be very engine and layout dependant.

Sorry ..... and to an extent you are correct - they also look very similar from patio doors forward.

Any news on a new boat for you?

No, the aft cockpit version of the Turbo 36 was called the Sedan. It never sold in the same quantities as the aft cab version perhaps because of the naff name

Never heard of that one but if you buy it can try to help with any questions.

I am based in Gosport and there are three in our marina, all on shafts.

I have only had mine a few weeks and learing more all the time.
