image.jpgHi
I would like to update the original vinyl cockpit upholstery. Has anyone done this and if so any recommendations on the material to use. It is currently white with the Carrera red and blue stripes.
I am considering like for like but open to suggestions if someone has updated with a modern look.

I will also be doing the interior so again any advice appreciated.

I have spoken to the very helpful MJ Marine who will be doing the job but i just need help in to choosing the look.

Thanks in advance.

DSC06191.JPGChanged the cockpit upholstrey of my T31 from the original white to the watersand suede colour as used on the latest Fairlines (after consultation with jfm).
It has really lifted the look of it and it gains many favourable comments.
Done by Martin Deuce at MJ.... he can also emboss the Fairline logo into the seat backs... looks really good on the helm seat.
This is the 'after' version... apologies for the junk lying around!

Martin duce/MJ is great and his prices are fair so you have chosen a good partner

Colour choice - heck the world is your oyster! I guess in broad terms your choices are:

1. Same again, but the RWB limits you to vinyl
2. Beige - safe and looks good, and you can have it in nice vinyl, sunbrella cloth or movida (which is a clever vinyl that fools you into thinking it is cloth)
3. Greys etc (ditto)
4. Something wild like orange movida (it's called Cobra) as seen on Fairline Targa 62 website - the white hulled boat photo-ed in Miami

I would suggest not to use vinyl. If you want the functions of vinyl, use movida becuase it is so much nicer. Avaialble in beige, orange, silver, dark charcoal and perhaps other colours too. MJ is currently doing my tender seats in silver movida so if you drop in you'll prob see them. If you dont need the function of vinyl use cloth Sunbrella plus imho, in a million colours. For beige look at dupione sand 8011. For dark brown look at dupione walnut 8017. For silver grey look at cadet grey 5073. For dark grey look at charcoal 3705. But there are loads of others you can choose from

It kinda depnds on the rest of your boat and your interior colours etc, which we have little info on...

Fully agree with using the beige sunbrella, vinyl in white shows all the marks
If you leave the covers off a lot, then perhaps vinyl would be preferable

For balance, Tockfields. (0EM fairline/wiliams amongst others) do a great job and are nice to deal with

Might be worth asking the same on the Fairline Owners Club. Www.fairlineownersclub.com

A virtual pint to that man! Anyhow, I quite like the classic look of the white with red and blue stripes on this boat. But I would try and enhance it with some coloured cockpit carpeting (that funny meshy / open carpeting in grey perhaps) and possibly some teak detailing if practical.

Internally I think you can be a bit bolder and find something that's more contemporary but still matches the woodwork.

Many Thanks for you ideas. I may still go for a pegesus white vinyl and navy piping too be safe but on the other hand I also really like the Movida beige. I need to convince the other half!

Is the Movida a more robust vinyl than a standard vinyl and would it be available in white?

Thanks again.
