Can anyone confirm wether the Fairline 40 (this one 1986) has the same or very similar hull to the Turbo 36? Also it has twin TAMD60c engines I believe 250hp? what would be likely cruise & top speed, what is seakeeping like and about how much for this 1986 boat? sorry so many questions, bit of research for a client.

Nope, very different hull from T36 AFAIK. The one I had in the 90's had twin 210 Mermaid and cruised at about 18 knots and early 20's flat out. Seakeeping good - pretty dry and comfortable but not as good as later boats. Boats with 306hp lumps tend to chine ride as too much power for hull design.

Low speed handling very good due to shallow keel type thing. Loads of room inside for length. Good wide decks. Loads of room round engines.

Not sure about the prices as condition/mods will affect alot. Guess between £50-£75k??

No, it has'nt. The Turbo 36 was an Olesinski design and the Fairline 40 a Bennett design. The difference you'll see is that the F40 has a small keel and the hull is an older design though none the worse for that. It is supposed to be reasonable seaboat but then it is a big boat, probably nearer what would be called a 50footer these days
The TAMD60C has 255hp which is not a lot for such a big lump of a boat. Probably do about 22-24knots flat out, maybe less with a cruise of about 18knots. I think some were made with the 306hp TAMD61 engines which might be a better bet
This was Fairline's flagship at the time so should be well fitted out but looking dated

My little book states the Fairline 40 to be a bennett design with 190 hp volvos. The non aft cabin version of the T36 was the Sedan 36 which was built from 1986.
