Just fitted a new outboard to my cat. The transom plate is quite big and protrudes about 5inches below the boat transom. So a flat metal plate about 14inches X 5 inches sticking below and facing forward. Some sort of fairing piece would seem appropriate and efficient. I have never seen this but it cannot just be my problem. Thinking a shape like a half done perhaps 2feet long? Any advice where I can buy this, although I could just make on.posting here as it is more a motor boaty thing?

I've used a mixture of aluminium, plastic and wood to make a fairing piece in the past. I would be concerned though that you don't have the bottom bolts in place holding the engine correctly. Ideally you need to make a new nacelle for the engine to mount on or seriously modify the existing one so that the bottom of the engine can be bolted down. Ithink that this is a winter project for me this winter as well, as I want to re-engine and my nacelle isn't big enough nor there room for a new engine at present.

Well spotted about the bottom bolt problem. I plan to fit two heavy stainless bracket bolted under the nacelle and then to the outboard. My fairing piece will fit over those I will probably use Ali and GRP as well.
